Recite the following poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost out loud to someone at home or someone over facetime. What words or phrases had an impact on you due to the author’s craft? Discuss with this person whether you are someone who will take a road “less traveled by” or not. Discuss what you think this means and why you think making this choice is important. How is this poem a *metaphor and can you think of a real person or a character in a book you read who “took the road less traveled?”
*(metaphor = makes a comparison about two unrelated things...ex: He is a shining star.)
Mild = explain how the metaphor works in relation to you
Medium = explain how the metaphor works in relation to you and a character from a book you have read
Spicy = explain how the metaphor works in relation to you, a character from a book you have read, and in relation to a real life person in history or in the news.
Now, you and the person you had the discussion with should write a short note/email to your English teacher explaining how you interpreted the metaphor.
